Description

A classic American Waldorf Salad combining crisp apples, juicy grapes, crunchy celery, and walnuts tossed in a creamy dressing made with mayonnaise, Greek yogurt, lemon juice, and honey. This refreshing, no-cook salad is perfect as a light lunch or a side dish.

Ingredients

Scale

Fruit and Nuts

  • 2 crisp apples (such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), cored and diced
  • 1 cup seedless red grapes, halved
  • 1 cup celery, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup walnuts, roughly chopped

Dressing

  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp honey
  • salt and black pepper to taste

Serving

  • lettuce leaves for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Fruit and Nuts: In a large mixing bowl, combine the diced apples, halved grapes, sliced celery, and roughly chopped walnuts to create the salad base.
  2. Make the Dressing: In a separate small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, Greek yogurt, lemon juice, honey, salt, and black pepper until smooth and well blended.
  3. Toss Salad with Dressing: Pour the dressing over the fruit and nut mixture and gently toss until everything is evenly coated with the creamy dressing.
  4. Chill: Place the salad in the refrigerator to chill for 15 to 30 minutes to allow flavors to meld and the salad to cool.
  5. Serve: Serve the Waldorf Salad on its own or spoon it over fresh lettuce leaves for a classic presentation.

Notes

  • To prevent browning, toss the chopped apples with a little extra lemon juice before mixing.
  • You can use all mayonnaise or all Greek yogurt depending on your preferred taste and creaminess.
  • For variation, add raisins or chopped cooked chicken to the salad.
