- 2 crisp apples (such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), cored and diced
- 1 cup seedless red grapes, halved
- 1 cup celery, thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup walnuts, roughly chopped
Dressing
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tsp honey
- salt and black pepper to taste
Serving
- lettuce leaves for serving (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Fruit and Nuts: In a large mixing bowl, combine the diced apples, halved grapes, sliced celery, and roughly chopped walnuts to create the salad base.
- Make the Dressing: In a separate small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, Greek yogurt, lemon juice, honey, salt, and black pepper until smooth and well blended.
- Toss Salad with Dressing: Pour the dressing over the fruit and nut mixture and gently toss until everything is evenly coated with the creamy dressing.
- Chill: Place the salad in the refrigerator to chill for 15 to 30 minutes to allow flavors to meld and the salad to cool.
- Serve: Serve the Waldorf Salad on its own or spoon it over fresh lettuce leaves for a classic presentation.
Notes
- To prevent browning, toss the chopped apples with a little extra lemon juice before mixing.
- You can use all mayonnaise or all Greek yogurt depending on your preferred taste and creaminess.
- For variation, add raisins or chopped cooked chicken to the salad.
