Ingredients
Scale
Brownies
- 1 box of your favorite brownie mix (or homemade brownies, if preferred)
- Ingredients required for the brownie mix (usually eggs, oil, and water)
Whipped Cream Layer
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Decorations and Additional Mix-ins
- 1/2 cup green sprinkles (or St. Patrick’s Day themed sprinkles)
- 1/4 cup mini chocolate chips (optional)
- 1/4 cup crushed mint chocolate (like Andes mints or chocolate peppermint bark, optional)
- Green sprinkles (for garnish)
- Mint leaves (optional for decoration)
- Extra chocolate shavings or chips (optional)
Instructions
- Bake the brownies: Prepare the brownies according to the package instructions, or use your favorite homemade brownie recipe. Bake and let them cool completely. Once cooled, cut the brownies into 1-inch squares.
- Make the whipped cream: In a large mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Use an electric mixer to beat the mixture on medium-high speed until stiff peaks form. Set aside.
- Assemble the trifle: In a large trifle dish or individual serving glasses, begin layering the ingredients. Start with a layer of brownie squares at the bottom of the dish.
- Add whipped cream: Top the brownie layer with a generous layer of whipped cream.
- Add sprinkles and mix-ins: Sprinkle green sprinkles, mini chocolate chips, or crushed mint chocolates over the whipped cream layer to add texture and flavor.
- Repeat layers: Repeat the brownie, whipped cream, and sprinkle layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with a generous layer of whipped cream on top.
- Garnish: Decorate the top whipped cream layer with more green sprinkles, mint leaves, extra chocolate shavings or chips, and optionally a few whole brownie squares for visual appeal.
- Chill and serve: Refrigerate the trifle for at least 1 hour to allow the flavors to meld and the dessert to set. Serve chilled for best taste.
Notes
- You can use homemade brownies or any brownie mix you prefer.
- For a mintier flavor, add crushed mint chocolates between layers.
- Whipped cream can be stabilized with a bit of cream cheese or gelatin if preparing in advance.
- The trifle is best served chilled but can be stored covered in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
- Adjust the amount of sprinkles and chocolate chips according to personal preference.
- For a lighter option, substitute heavy cream with whipped topping, but the texture will vary.
