Ingredients
Scale
Main Ingredients
- 1 pound lean ground beef (90% lean or higher)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 small onion, finely diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
Seasonings
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika or chili powder (optional)
Instructions
- Heat the skillet: Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the olive oil and allow it to warm for about 30 seconds until shimmering.
- Sauté the onion and garlic: Add the finely diced onion to the skillet and sauté for 2 to 3 minutes until softened and translucent. Stir in the minced garlic and continue cooking for another 30 seconds to release its aroma.
- Add the ground beef: Push the cooked onion and garlic to one side of the pan. Add the lean ground beef and break it apart with a wooden spoon or meat chopper, ensuring even cooking.
- Season the beef: Stir the beef together with the onion and garlic, then season with salt, black pepper, and the optional paprika or chili powder for smoky or spicy notes.
- Cook the beef thoroughly: Continue cooking the mixture for 6 to 8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the beef is fully browned and cooked through. Drain any excess liquid if necessary.
- Adjust seasoning and finish: Taste the beef mixture and adjust the seasoning if needed. Remove the skillet from heat.
- Use or store: Use the cooked lean ground beef immediately in your favorite dishes like tacos, pastas, rice bowls, or salads. Alternatively, allow it to cool and store for later use.
