Onion Base:

  • 2 large yellow onions (thinly sliced)
  • 4 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • ½ teaspoon dried rosemary
  • 1 bay leaf

Liquid and Thickening:

  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup French onion soup (canned or homemade)
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour (optional, for thickening)

Garnish:

  • Fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)


Instructions

  1. Preheat and Season: Preheat the oven to 325°F (160°C). Season the chuck roast with salt and pepper.
  2. Sear the Roast: Brown the roast in a Dutch oven. Set aside.
