Description

This vibrant Pomegranate Margarita combines the tart sweetness of pomegranate juice with the bright acidity of lime and the smooth warmth of tequila reposado. A homemade pomegranate syrup adds a fresh burst of flavor, making this cocktail a refreshing and colorful treat perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale

Pomegranate Syrup

  • 1 cup pomegranate juice
  • 1 cup granulated sugar

Margarita

  • 2 ounces pomegranate syrup (prepared)
  • 3 ounces tequila reposado (Espolon recommended)
  • 1 ounce freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 1 cup ice
  • Pomegranate arils (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Make Pomegranate Syrup: Combine 1 cup pomegranate juice and 1 cup granulated sugar in a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir continuously until the sugar is completely dissolved. Remove from heat and let the syrup cool to room temperature.
  2. Mix Cocktail: In a cocktail shaker, combine 2 ounces of the cooled pomegranate syrup with 3 ounces of tequila reposado and 1 ounce of freshly squeezed lime juice. Add 1 cup of ice to the shaker.
  3. Shake: Shake vigorously for about 30 seconds until the mixture is well chilled and slightly diluted.
  4. Strain and Serve: Strain the margarita into a glass filled with ice. Garnish with fresh pomegranate arils if desired. Serve immediately and enjoy your refreshing Pomegranate Margarita!

Notes

  • The pomegranate syrup can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
  • Use freshly squeezed lime juice for the best flavor.
  • Adjust sweetness by modifying the amount of syrup added to taste.
  • For a frozen version, blend the ingredients with ice instead of shaking.
  • Espolon tequila reposado is recommended for its smooth and flavorful profile, but any quality reposado tequila works well.
