Description

Sweet and savory Pineapple Hasselback Kielbasa Bites make a perfect party appetizer or game-day snack. Kielbasa sausage slices stuffed with juicy pineapple chunks and coated with a flavorful barbecue glaze are baked to caramelized perfection. Simple to prepare and packed with bold flavors, these bite-sized treats are sure to be a crowd-pleaser.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 (14-ounce) kielbasa sausage
  • 1/2 cup pineapple chunks (canned or fresh)
  • 1/4 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Toothpicks (for serving)
  • Chopped fresh parsley (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat and prepare baking sheet: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with foil or parchment paper to prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.
  2. Slice kielbasa: Slice the kielbasa into 1/2-inch thick rounds, being careful not to slice all the way through. Leave the bottom intact to create a hasselback-style pocket for stuffing.
  3. Prepare pineapple chunks: Cut the pineapple chunks into small pieces so they can fit neatly into the slits of the kielbasa slices.
  4. Stuff pineapple: Gently stuff a small piece of pineapple into each slit of the kielbasa rounds, ensuring each piece is nicely filled.
  5. Make the glaze: In a small bowl, whisk together the barbecue sauce, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, and black pepper until well combined.
  6. Brush glaze on kielbasa: Generously brush the barbecue glaze over the pineapple-stuffed kielbasa slices to coat them evenly.
  7. Bake: Arrange the kielbasa bites on the prepared baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 20–25 minutes. Halfway through, baste with additional glaze to enhance flavor and caramelization.
  8. Serve: Remove from oven, insert toothpicks into each bite for easy serving, and garnish with chopped fresh parsley if desired. Serve warm for best taste.

Notes

  • These bites are excellent as a party appetizer or a game-day snack.
  • For a spicy kick, add a dash of hot sauce or cayenne pepper to the glaze mixture.
  • Leftovers can be reheated in the oven or air fryer for a quick warm-up.
  • Use fresh pineapple for a brighter flavor, or canned pineapple for convenience.
