Description

A simple and delicious recipe for Parmesan Cheese Crisps that can be made either in the oven or on the stovetop using a skillet. These crispy, golden cheese bites are perfect as a low-carb snack or crunchy salad topping, ready in just 15 minutes with only one ingredient.

Ingredients

Scale

Ingredients

  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit to prepare for baking the Parmesan cheese crisps.
  2. Prepare baking sheet: Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and for easy cleanup.
  3. Form cheese rounds: Place 1 tablespoon scoops of grated Parmesan cheese on the parchment paper, spacing each at least 1 inch apart. Flatten each scoop with the back of a spatula until rounds are about 2-3 inches wide and ⅛-¼ inch thick.
  4. Bake the crisps: Bake in the preheated oven for 4 to 6 minutes or until the crisps turn golden brown on the edges.
  5. Cool after baking: Remove the crisps from the baking sheet and place them on a plate to cool and harden for about 5 minutes before serving.
  6. Heat skillet: Alternatively, place a large non-stick skillet over medium heat to make the crisps on the stovetop.
  7. Add cheese to skillet: Once the skillet is warm, add 1 tablespoon scoops of Parmesan cheese, spaced at least 1 inch apart. Flatten each to 2-3 inches wide and ⅛-¼ inch thick using the back of a spatula.
  8. Cook on stove: Cook for 4 to 5 minutes until edges begin to turn golden brown.
  9. Flip and cook additional time: Flip each crisp carefully, cooking for another 1-2 minutes to crisp the other side.
  10. Cool after stovetop cooking: Remove crisps from the skillet and place on a plate to cool and harden for about 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Make sure to space the cheese rounds at least 1 inch apart to prevent them from sticking together as they melt.
  • Flattening the cheese rounds to a consistent thickness helps ensure even cooking and crispiness.
  • Baking time may vary slightly depending on your oven; watch closely to prevent burning.
  • Use freshly grated Parmesan for the best flavor and texture.
  • Parmesan crisps can be stored in an airtight container for up to a week but are best enjoyed fresh.
