Ingredients
Scale
Banana Bread
- 2 to 3 ripe bananas (mashed, about 1 cup)
- 1/3 cup unsalted butter (melted)
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg (beaten)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
Instructions
- Preheat and prepare pan. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan thoroughly and set it aside to ensure the bread doesn’t stick.
- Mash bananas and mix with butter. In a large mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas using a fork until smooth. Stir in the melted unsalted butter until fully combined, creating a rich banana base.
- Add sugar, egg, and vanilla. Incorporate the granulated sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla extract into the banana and butter mixture. Mix thoroughly for an even batter.
- Combine dry ingredients. Sprinkle the baking soda and salt evenly over the wet ingredients and mix in. Then gradually stir in the all-purpose flour, mixing only until just combined to avoid overworking the batter.
- Pour batter into pan. Transfer the batter evenly into the prepared loaf pan, smoothing the top as needed.
- Bake the bread. Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 55–60 minutes. Test doneness by inserting a toothpick into the center; it should come out clean when the bread is ready.
- Cool the bread. Allow the banana bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then carefully remove it from the pan and place it on a wire rack to cool completely before slicing and serving.
Notes
- For extra flavor and texture, stir in 1/2 cup chopped walnuts, pecans, or chocolate chips before baking.
- This banana bread freezes well; wrap tightly in plastic wrap or foil and store for up to 3 months.
- Best enjoyed slightly warm with a spread of butter for a comforting treat.
