Ingredients
Scale
Meat & Vegetables
- ½ pound lean ground beef
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon ketchup
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- ½ cup mixed frozen vegetables
- Salt & pepper to taste
Base & Topping
- 1 can refrigerated crescent rolls
- 2 tubs (32 oz each) premade mashed potatoes
- Cooking spray (for muffin tin)
- Chopped parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat Oven and Prepare Muffin Tin: Heat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Generously spray a standard 12-cup muffin tin with cooking spray to prevent sticking and set it aside.
- Brown the Ground Beef: Heat a skillet over medium heat. Add the lean ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula for even cooking.
- Add Seasonings and Vegetables: Once the beef is browned, add garlic powder, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, and frozen mixed vegetables to the skillet. Stir well and cook until the vegetables are heated through. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Cut Crescent Roll Circles: Unroll the refrigerated crescent rolls dough. Using a 3-inch biscuit cutter, cut out 12 circles to perfectly fit into the muffin tin cups.
- Line Muffin Cups: Place one crescent roll circle into each muffin cup. Press the dough gently up the sides to form a crust base for the shepherd’s pie filling.
- Add Ground Beef Mixture: Spoon 1 to 2 tablespoons of the beef and vegetable mixture into each crescent roll-lined muffin cup.
- Top with Mashed Potatoes: Add a scoop of mashed potatoes (about 1/3 cup) on top of each beef mixture. You can also use a piping bag with a large tip for a decorative topping.
- Bake: Place the muffin tin in the preheated oven and bake for about 15 minutes or until the crescent roll dough is golden brown and cooked through.
- Cool and Garnish: Allow the mini shepherd’s pies to cool slightly before removing from the muffin tin. Garnish with chopped parsley, then serve warm.
Notes
- For added flavor, try mixing in some fresh herbs like thyme or rosemary with the beef mixture.
- You can customize the vegetables according to preference or use fresh diced vegetables instead of frozen.
- Leftover mini shepherd’s pies reheat well in the oven or microwave.
- Using a piping bag for the mashed potatoes creates a more elegant presentation but is optional.
- Adjust salt and pepper seasoning to your taste, especially if canned mashed potatoes are salty.
