Ingredients
Scale
Bread & Butter
- 4 slices sourdough or rustic bread
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, softened
Fillings
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 large ripe peach, thinly sliced
- 4 ounces sharp white cheddar cheese, sliced or shredded
- 1 tablespoon cream cheese (optional, for extra creaminess)
- Pinch of sea salt (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the bread: Butter one side of each slice of bread thoroughly to ensure a golden, crispy exterior when cooked.
- Assemble the sandwich: On the unbuttered side of two slices, spread a thin layer of cream cheese if using, then drizzle honey evenly. Layer the white cheddar slices followed by the thinly sliced peaches evenly over the honey. Sprinkle a pinch of sea salt on top for contrast if desired.
- Top and press: Place the remaining slices of bread on top with the buttered side facing out to form the sandwich.
- Cook the sandwich: Heat a skillet over medium heat. Place the sandwiches in the pan and cook for 3 to 4 minutes per side or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted. Press down slightly with a spatula during cooking to help meld the ingredients together.
- Serve: Remove the sandwiches from the skillet and let them cool for 1 to 2 minutes. Slice and serve warm for best taste and texture.
Notes
- Add a few fresh basil leaves or a touch of balsamic glaze for a savory twist.
- Pairs wonderfully with tomato soup or a crisp green salad for a balanced meal.
