Description

This flavorful Shrimp Boil recipe combines tender baby potatoes, sweet corn, smoky andouille sausage, and succulent shrimp all tossed in a garlicky Old Bay butter sauce, then baked to perfection. Perfect for a casual family dinner or a seafood feast with friends, this easy-to-make dish delivers a delightful southern-inspired taste with a comforting blend of textures and aromas.

Ingredients

Scale

Vegetables

  • 1 lb baby potatoes, cut into equal pieces
  • 3 ears of corn, each cut into 5 pieces
  • 2 lemons, cut into wedges

Protein

  • 16 oz smoked andouille sausage, cut into pieces
  • 1 lb large shrimp, raw with tail on

Seasonings & Sauces

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 5 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tbsp Old Bay seasoning

Instructions

  1. Boil Potatoes: In a large pot of boiling water, add the baby potatoes and cook for 10 minutes until they start to soften.
  2. Add Corn: Add the cut corn pieces to the same boiling water with the potatoes and continue boiling for an additional 5 minutes until potatoes are tender and corn is cooked through.
  3. Drain and Combine: Drain the water and transfer the cooked potatoes and corn into a large mixing bowl.
  4. Add Shrimp and Sausage: Clean and pat dry the large shrimp, then add the shrimp and the smoked andouille sausage pieces to the bowl with the potatoes and corn.
  5. Prepare Butter Sauce: In a small bowl, combine the melted unsalted butter with the minced garlic and Old Bay seasoning, mixing thoroughly to infuse the flavors.
  6. Toss Ingredients: Pour the butter mixture over the bowl containing shrimp, sausage, potatoes, and corn. Toss everything together gently but thoroughly to evenly coat all the ingredients.
  7. Bake: Transfer the entire mixture onto a large baking sheet, spreading it out evenly. Bake in a preheated oven at 400°F (204°C) for about 15 minutes, or until the shrimp are fully cooked and opaque.
  8. Serve: Remove from the oven and serve immediately, garnished with lemon wedges for squeezing over the dish for a fresh, tangy finish.

Notes

  • Make sure to pat dry the shrimp before mixing to ensure the butter sauce sticks well.
  • If you prefer, you can add extra Old Bay seasoning for more flavor.
  • Use fresh corn on the cob for best sweetness and texture.
  • Adjust baking time depending on your oven; shrimp cook quickly and become rubbery if overcooked.
  • This dish pairs well with crusty bread or a simple green salad.
