This Garlic Butter Lobster Tails recipe features succulent lobster meat brushed with a flavorful garlic butter sauce, seasoned with paprika, Old Bay, and fresh herbs, then baked and broiled to perfection. It’s a quick and elegant seafood dish perfect for special occasions or a decadent dinner at home.

Ingredients

Scale

Lobster Tails

  • 4 lobster tails

Seasoning

  • 1 1/4 teaspoon paprika, divided
  • 1 1/4 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning, divided
  • 1 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt, divided
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper

Garlic Butter Sauce

  • 1 stick (8 tablespoons) butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
  • 3 cloves garlic, grated
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest

To Serve

  • Lemon wedges

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit to prepare for baking the lobster tails.
  2. Prepare Lobster Tails: Using kitchen scissors, carefully cut down the back of each lobster shell until you reach the tail, but leave the base intact to keep the tail together.
  3. Remove Meat from Shell: Gently pull the shell back slightly and use your fingers to separate the meat from the shell, then lift the meat to rest on top of the shell. Remove the black vein if present and rinse under cold water if needed for cleanliness.
  4. Arrange for Baking: Place the prepared lobster tails on a baking sheet with a rack to allow even heat circulation.
  5. Season Lobster: Mix 1/4 teaspoon each of paprika, Old Bay seasoning, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper in a small bowl and sprinkle this seasoning evenly over the lobster tails.
  6. Bake Lobster Tails: Bake the seasoned lobster tails in the preheated oven for 10 minutes to cook through gently.
  7. Prepare Garlic Butter: While baking, combine melted butter, chopped parsley, grated garlic, lemon zest, 1 teaspoon paprika, 1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning, and 1 teaspoon kosher salt in a bowl and stir well.
  8. Butter the Lobster: Remove 3 tablespoons of the butter mixture for later use, then brush the rest generously over the lobster tails.
  9. Broil for Finish: Turn the oven broiler to high and broil the lobster tails for 3 minutes to get a nice golden finish. Remove from oven and top with the reserved garlic butter sauce.
  10. Serve: Immediately serve the lobster tails with lemon wedges for squeezing over the meat, enjoying them hot and flavorful.

Notes

  • Ensure to leave the tail base intact when cutting the shells to keep the lobster meat together for easier handling and presentation.
  • Removing the black vein improves the taste and texture; rinse the meat gently if necessary before cooking.
  • Using a baking rack helps heat circulate evenly around the lobster tails for consistent cooking.
  • Broiling at the end adds a beautiful color and enhances the buttery garlic flavor.
  • Serve immediately as lobster tails are best enjoyed fresh and hot.
