Description

These Fried Strawberry Cheesecake Sandwiches are a delightful dessert treat combining creamy cheesecake filling with fresh strawberries, sandwiched between golden-fried bread slices. Perfect for a quick indulgence, this recipe creates crispy, sweet sandwiches dusted with powdered sugar and served with extra strawberries or strawberry syrup for a luscious finish.

Ingredients

Scale

Cheesecake Filling

  • 200 g (7 oz) cream cheese, softened
  • 50 g (1/4 cup) granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup diced fresh strawberries

Sandwich

  • 8 slices sandwich bread (white or brioche recommended)

Batter and Coating

  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon (optional)

For Frying and Serving

  • Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting)
  • Extra fresh strawberries or strawberry syrup

Instructions

  1. Assemble the Sandwiches: In a bowl, mix the softened cream cheese, 50 g granulated sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth. Gently fold in the diced fresh strawberries. Spread this filling evenly onto 4 slices of sandwich bread.
  2. Top and Seal: Place the remaining 4 slices of bread on top of the filling to make sandwiches, pressing the edges gently to seal the filling inside. Trim the crusts for a neat appearance if you prefer.
  3. Prepare the Batter: In a shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk. In a separate small bowl, combine the optional granulated sugar and ground cinnamon. This will be used to sprinkle on the sandwiches after frying.
  4. Heat the Oil: Pour about 1 inch of vegetable or canola oil into a frying pan and heat over medium heat until it reaches approximately 175°C (350°F).
  5. Fry the Sandwiches: Dip each sandwich briefly into the egg mixture to coat, then carefully place it in the hot oil. Fry each sandwich for 2 to 3 minutes per side or until they are golden brown and crispy.
  6. Drain and Finish: Remove the sandwiches from the oil and drain them on paper towels to remove excess oil. While still warm, sprinkle the optional cinnamon sugar mixture on top, then dust generously with powdered sugar.
  7. Serve: Serve the fried strawberry cheesecake sandwiches warm, accompanied by extra fresh strawberries or a drizzle of strawberry syrup for an extra burst of sweetness.

Notes

  • Use white or brioche bread for the best texture and flavor.
  • Ensure the oil is at the right temperature (175°C/350°F) to avoid greasy sandwiches.
  • For a healthier option, you can use a non-stick skillet with less oil, but the texture will differ slightly.
  • The optional cinnamon sugar adds a warm spice note that complements the strawberries perfectly.
  • Make sure to drain the fried sandwiches well to keep them crisp and less oily.
