Ingredients
Scale
Pizza Base
- 1 pizza dough
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Cheese Toppings
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella
- 1/2 cup shredded parmesan
Vegetables & Herbs
- 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
- 3 green onions, thinly sliced
- 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves
Eggs & Seasoning
- 3 eggs
- 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F (230 degrees C) to ensure it reaches the ideal temperature for baking the pizza with a crispy crust and perfectly cooked eggs.
- Prepare Pizza Dough: Stretch or roll out the pizza dough into at least a 12-inch round shape and transfer it to a pizza stone or an oiled baking sheet to prevent sticking and promote even cooking.
- Add Oil and Cheese: Brush the surface of the dough lightly with olive oil. Evenly distribute the shredded mozzarella and parmesan cheeses over the dough to create a cheesy base layer.
- Top with Vegetables and Herbs: Scatter the halved cherry tomatoes, thinly sliced green onions, and half of the basil leaves over the cheese layer to add fresh flavor and color.
- Add Eggs and Seasoning: Carefully crack the eggs on top of the prepared toppings, spacing them out evenly. Sprinkle the sea salt and ground black pepper over the entire pizza for seasoning.
- Bake the Pizza: Place the pizza in the preheated oven and bake for 8 to 10 minutes for runnier yolks or up to 12 minutes if you prefer the eggs cooked through.
- Garnish and Rest: Remove the pizza from the oven and immediately sprinkle the remaining fresh basil leaves on top. Let the pizza rest for a few minutes before slicing and serving to allow the flavors to meld and the eggs to set.
Notes
- Use a pizza stone if available to achieve a crispier crust.
- Adjust egg cooking time according to your preferred yolk consistency.
- Fresh basil adds the best flavor; substitute with dried basil if fresh is unavailable, but add less.
- For a heartier pizza, consider adding cooked bacon or sausage.
- Allow the pizza to rest before cutting to prevent toppings from sliding off.
