Ingredients
Scale
Strawberries
- 2 lbs large strawberries, stems attached (approximately 25 strawberries)
Chocolate Coating
- 12 oz semi-sweet chocolate bars or chips (finely chopped if using bars)
- White chocolate chips (for melting to dip and drizzle)
Toppings
- Finely chopped nuts (walnuts, pistachios, almonds)
- Coconut flakes (finely chopped)
- Sprinkles or sanding sugar
- Oreo cookies (crushed)
Instructions
- Prepare Strawberries: Rinse the strawberries under cold water and gently pat dry with paper towels. Ensure strawberries are completely dry to help the chocolate adhere better.
- Melt Semi-Sweet Chocolate: Place the semi-sweet chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave in 20-second intervals, stirring between each, until smooth and fully melted. Alternatively, use a double boiler on the stovetop to melt the chocolate gently.
- Dip Strawberries: Holding a strawberry by its stem, dip it into the melted semi-sweet chocolate, swirling to coat evenly. Allow excess chocolate to drip off.
- Add Toppings: Immediately after dipping, sprinkle or roll the strawberry in your choice of finely chopped nuts, coconut flakes, sprinkles, or crushed Oreo cookies to coat the chocolate layer before it sets.
- Melt White Chocolate: Melt the white chocolate chips similarly, in short microwave bursts or over a double boiler, until smooth.
- Drizzle White Chocolate: Using a fork or spoon, drizzle the melted white chocolate over the dipped strawberries for a beautiful contrast.
- Set and Chill: Place the strawberries on a parchment-lined baking sheet and refrigerate for 15-20 minutes until the chocolate hardens.
- Serve: Enjoy immediately after chilling or store covered in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours.
Notes
- Make sure strawberries are completely dry before dipping to prevent chocolate from seizing.
- You can substitute semi-sweet chocolate with dark or milk chocolate depending on taste preference.
- For a smoother finish, temper your chocolate for shine and snap.
- Use parchment paper or a silicone mat to prevent sticking while chocolate sets.
- Best consumed within 24 hours to maintain freshness and texture.
