Ingredients
Scale
Chicken and Coating
- 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (halved horizontally to make 4 cutlets)
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- Vegetable oil for frying
Sandwich Assembly
- 4 brioche or sandwich buns
- 1 cup romaine lettuce (shredded)
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 cup Caesar dressing
Instructions
- Marinate the Chicken: Place the chicken cutlets in a shallow dish and cover them with buttermilk. Refrigerate and let them marinate for at least 30 minutes to tenderize and infuse flavor.
- Prepare the Coating: In a separate bowl, mix together the all-purpose flour, panko breadcrumbs, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper to create a seasoned breadcrumb mixture.
- Coat the Chicken: Remove each chicken cutlet from the buttermilk, allowing any excess to drip off. Dredge each piece thoroughly in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to make the coating adhere well.
- Heat the Oil: Pour about 1/2 inch of vegetable oil into a large skillet and heat it over medium heat until shimmering and hot enough for frying.
- Fry the Chicken: Carefully place the breaded chicken cutlets in the hot oil. Fry for 3 to 4 minutes on each side until they turn golden brown and are cooked through, reaching an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
- Drain the Fried Chicken: Transfer the cooked chicken onto a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil and keep the crust crisp.
- Toast the Buns: Optionally, toast the brioche or sandwich buns lightly to enhance texture and flavor.
- Assemble the Sandwiches: On the bottom halves of the buns, layer shredded romaine lettuce, a crispy chicken cutlet, a generous drizzle of Caesar dressing, and sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese. Top with the other half of the bun.
- Serve Immediately: Serve the sandwiches right away while the chicken is still crispy and warm.
Notes
- For a lighter version, bake or air fry the chicken cutlets instead of frying.
- Add crispy bacon or fresh tomato slices to elevate the flavor profile.
- Using homemade Caesar dressing enhances freshness and allows customization.
