Shrimp Mixture
- 8 oz (approximately 225g) fresh shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon fresh cilantro, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon green onions, finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ginger, minced
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Bread and Preparation
- 4 slices of white or whole-grain bread
- Cooking spray or a drizzle of olive oil (for greasing)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 400°F (200°C) to prepare it for baking the shrimp toast.
- Prepare the shrimp mixture: In a food processor, combine shrimp, mayonnaise, cilantro, green onions, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and pepper. Process until you get a smooth, well-blended mixture.
- Toast the bread slices: Arrange the bread slices on a baking sheet. Lightly spray or drizzle olive oil on each slice ensuring even coverage for crispiness.
- Spread the shrimp mixture: Evenly spread the shrimp mixture over each slice of bread, pressing gently to help it adhere properly.
- Bake the shrimp toast: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes until the shrimp topping is cooked through and the edges are lightly browned and crispy.
- Cool and serve: Remove from the oven and allow the shrimp toast to cool for a few minutes. Cut into smaller pieces if desired and serve warm as a delicious appetizer or snack.
Notes
- For extra crispiness, use day-old bread or lightly toast the bread before adding the shrimp mixture.
- You can customize the seasoning by adding a pinch of red pepper flakes for a spicy kick.
- If you don’t have a food processor, finely chop the shrimp and ingredients and mix well by hand.
- This recipe works well with white or whole grain bread depending on your preference.
- Serve with a dipping sauce like sweet chili sauce or soy sauce for added flavor.
