Description

This Crescent Roll Christmas Tree is a festive and delicious appetizer perfect for holiday gatherings. Made with flaky crescent rolls filled with flavorful Boursin garlic and herb cheese, shaped into a charming Christmas tree, brushed with melted butter and fresh parsley, this easy-to-make recipe is sure to impress your guests with both taste and presentation.

Ingredients

Scale

Ingredients

  • 2 8-ounce cans of crescent rolls
  • 2 5.5-ounce packages of Boursin garlic and herbs spreadable cheese
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with a piece of parchment paper and set it aside for easy cleanup and to prevent sticking.
  2. Prepare Crescent Roll Triangles: Open one can of crescent rolls and unroll the dough onto a cutting board. Separate the dough into 8 triangles. Use a pizza cutter to cut each triangle in half lengthwise, creating 16 thin triangles.
  3. Fill and Roll: Spread half of one package of Boursin cheese evenly near the wider end of each crescent triangle. Carefully roll up each triangle starting from the wide end toward the point, forming small rolls filled with creamy garlic-herb cheese.
  4. Arrange Tree Base: On the prepared baking sheet, arrange 4 crescent rolls to create the tree trunk: 2 rows with 2 crescents each placed at the bottom center of the sheet.
  5. Build the Tree Shape: Using the remaining crescent rolls from the first can, create the tree layers. The bottom layer of the tree has 7 crescents arranged side by side, the next layer up has 6, then 5, continuing upward while keeping each layer centered to form a tree shape.
  6. Repeat with Second Can: Repeat the rolling and filling process with the second can of crescent rolls and the second package of Boursin cheese. Add these crescents on top of the existing formation to complete the Christmas tree shape.
  7. Bake the Tree: Bake the assembled crescent roll tree in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the crescents are golden brown and puffed up.
  8. Brush with Butter and Garnish: Melt the butter in a microwave-safe bowl. Once the tree is out of the oven and slightly cooled, brush the melted butter over the top of the crescent rolls and sprinkle the chopped fresh parsley evenly for a beautiful finishing touch.
  9. Serve Warm: Serve this festive crescent roll Christmas tree immediately while warm for the best flavor and texture. Enjoy as a delightful holiday appetizer or party snack.

Notes

  • For best results, use the garlic and herb Boursin cheese or a similar creamy, spreadable cheese with herbs.
  • You can customize the herbs by adding chopped rosemary or thyme along with parsley for extra festive flavor.
  • Use a pizza cutter for easy and precise slicing of the crescent dough.
  • If desired, add a small amount of shredded mozzarella inside the rolls for a cheesy pull-apart effect.
  • Leftovers can be reheated in a low oven to maintain crispness but are best enjoyed fresh.
