Description

A comforting and creamy twist on traditional instant ramen, this recipe uses milk instead of water to create a rich broth. Enhanced with a poached egg, chopped green onions, sesame seeds, and optional chili oil, it offers a quick, flavorful meal that’s ready in under 15 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 package of instant ramen
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup of milk
  • 2 chopped green onions
  • 1 teaspoon chili oil (optional)
  • 3 cups water (for initial boiling)
  • Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Boil Noodles: In a small pot, bring three cups of water to a rolling boil over high heat. Add the instant ramen noodles and boil for 1 1/2 minutes until slightly softened. Drain the noodles and set aside.
  2. Prepare Broth: Using the same pot, pour in one cup of milk and bring it to a boil over high heat. Add the seasoning sauce packet that came with the ramen and stir well to combine, creating a creamy broth. Add the drained noodles back into the pot and reduce heat to medium-high.
  3. Add Egg and Green Onions: Create a small well in the noodles and carefully crack the egg into it. Sprinkle the chopped green onions evenly over the top. Let this simmer gently for about 2 minutes to poach the egg slightly, then turn off the heat.
  4. Serve: Using a spoon, carefully scoop the poached egg out and place it on top of the noodles and broth in a serving bowl. Garnish with a sprinkle of sesame seeds and drizzle chili oil over the dish if using for an added spicy kick.
  5. Enjoy: Serve the ramen immediately while hot for the best taste and texture.

Notes

  • You can adjust the amount of milk or water depending on how creamy or light you prefer your broth.
  • For a vegetarian option, ensure the ramen seasoning packet does not contain meat products.
  • Chili oil is optional but adds a nice depth and heat; omit if you prefer a milder flavor.
  • Be careful when poaching the egg to avoid breaking the yolk unless preferred.
  • Adding sesame seeds enhances texture and provides a subtle nutty flavor.
