Description

These Cranberry Brie Bites are delightful, bite-sized appetizers featuring buttery puff pastry filled with melted Brie cheese, tangy cranberry sauce, and crunchy pecans. Perfectly baked to golden perfection and optionally garnished with fresh herbs and a drizzle of honey, they offer a harmonious blend of sweet and savory flavors ideal for holiday parties or elegant gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale

Pastry Base

  • 1 sheet of puff pastry, thawed
  • Flour, for dusting
  • Cooking spray or butter, for greasing muffin tin

Filling

  • 8 ounces of Brie cheese, cut into small cubes
  • 1/2 cup of whole cranberry sauce
  • 1/4 cup of chopped pecans

Optional Toppings

  • 1 teaspoon of chopped fresh rosemary or thyme
  • 1 tablespoon of honey

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a mini muffin tin with cooking spray or butter to prevent sticking.
  2. Roll Puff Pastry: On a lightly floured surface, roll out the thawed puff pastry sheet to smooth out any creases and slightly increase its size for easier cutting.
  3. Cut Pastry Squares: Cut the rolled-out puff pastry into small squares measuring approximately 2.5 inches by 2.5 inches each.
  4. Shape Pastry Cups: Gently press each square of puff pastry into the wells of the prepared mini muffin tin, forming small cups to hold the filling.
  5. Add Brie Cheese: Place a cube of Brie cheese inside each puff pastry cup, ensuring an even distribution.
  6. Top with Cranberry Sauce: Spoon about a teaspoon of whole cranberry sauce over the Brie in each cup.
  7. Add Pecans: Sprinkle a few chopped pecans on top of the cranberry sauce in each cup for added texture and flavor.
  8. Optional Herb Garnish: Optionally, add a sprinkle of chopped fresh rosemary or thyme on top of each bite for extra aroma and depth of flavor.
  9. Bake: Bake the filled puff pastry cups in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the puff pastry is golden brown and the Brie has melted.
  10. Cool and Drizzle Honey: Remove the bites from the oven and allow them to cool slightly. For added sweetness, drizzle about a teaspoon of honey over each bite before serving.
  11. Serve Warm: Serve the cranberry Brie bites warm and enjoy as a delicious appetizer or party treat.

Notes

  • You can substitute fresh herbs with dried if unavailable, but use sparingly.
  • Use whole cranberry sauce for best texture; jellied cranberry sauce may be too smooth.
  • If Brie rind is undesirable, trim it off before cubing.
  • Make sure to thaw puff pastry sheet completely before rolling to avoid cracking.
  • These bites can be baked ahead and reheated gently in the oven.
  • For a nut-free version, omit pecans or substitute with seeds like pumpkin or sunflower.
