Description

These Cowboy Baked Beans are a hearty and flavorful side dish perfect for potlucks and cookouts. Loaded with ground beef, bacon, and a variety of beans in a tangy, sweet, and savory sauce, they are sure to be a crowd-pleaser.

For the beans:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 4 slices bacon, chopped
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (15 oz) can kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 (15 oz) can pinto beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 (15 oz) can black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 (15 oz) can pork and beans, undrained

For the sauce:

  • ½ cup barbecue sauce
  • ¼ cup ketchup
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cook the bacon: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the chopped bacon until crispy. Remove and set aside.
  3. Cook the beef: In the same skillet, cook the ground beef and onion until beef is browned. Add garlic and cook for an additional minute.
  4. Mix ingredients: In a bowl, combine the beef mixture with all beans, sauces, and seasonings. Transfer to a baking dish.
  5. Bake: Top with cooked bacon and bake uncovered for 40–45 minutes until bubbly.
  6. Serve: Let rest for 10 minutes before serving.
