  • 1½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1½ teaspoons baking powder

  • ½ teaspoon cotton candy flavoring (optional but recommended)
  • ½ cup whole milk

  • 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 2–3 tablespoons milk or heavy cream
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon cotton candy flavoring
  • pink and blue food coloring
  • cotton candy or sprinkles for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven and prepare cupcake tin: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cupcake tin with 12 paper liners.
  2. Prepare cupcake batter: In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, then add vanilla and cotton candy flavoring. Gradually mix in dry ingredients, alternating with milk, beginning and ending with flour.
  3. Tint and fill cupcake liners: Divide batter between two bowls and tint pink and blue. Spoon batter into liners to create a swirl effect.
  4. Bake: Bake for 18–20 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool completely.
  5. Prepare frosting: Beat butter, add powdered sugar, milk, vanilla, and cotton candy flavoring. Divide and tint frosting pink and blue.
  6. Decorate cupcakes: Pipe swirled frosting onto cooled cupcakes and garnish with cotton candy or sprinkles.

Notes
