Description

Cheesy Garlic Butter Rollups are delicious, bite-sized snacks made with flaky puff pastry, a blend of mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses, and a flavorful garlic butter spread. Perfect as an appetizer or party treat, these golden-brown rollups bake quickly to a crispy, cheesy perfection and can be customized with additional spices or cheese varieties.

Ingredients

Scale

Puff Pastry Rollups

  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Pinch of salt
  • All-purpose flour for rolling

Instructions

  1. Prepare Oven and Surface: Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Lightly flour your work surface to prevent sticking.
  2. Roll Puff Pastry: Roll out the thawed puff pastry into a rectangle about ¼-inch thick on the floured surface.
  3. Make Garlic Butter Mixture: In a small bowl, combine melted butter, minced garlic, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, and a pinch of salt. Mix well.
  4. Spread Butter Mixture: Brush this garlic butter evenly over the surface of the rolled out puff pastry.
  5. Add Cheeses: Sprinkle shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese evenly on top of the buttered pastry.
  6. Roll the Pastry: Starting from one long edge, tightly roll the puff pastry into a log shape, encasing the cheeses inside.
  7. Cut into Slices: Use a sharp knife to slice the thick roll into 1-inch wide pieces to form individual rollups.
  8. Place on Baking Sheet: Arrange the rollups cut side up on the prepared parchment-lined baking sheet. Brush the tops with any remaining garlic butter mixture.
  9. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 15–18 minutes or until the rollups are golden brown and puffed.
  10. Garnish and Serve: Remove from oven, garnish with chopped fresh parsley if desired, and serve warm.

Notes

  • Substitute mozzarella cheese with a mix of cheddar and Monterey Jack for a sharper flavor.
  • For a spicy kick, sprinkle crushed red pepper flakes over the garlic butter before rolling the pastry.
  • Make sure to work quickly with the puff pastry to keep it cold, helping create flakier rollups.
  • Serve rollups warm for best flavor and texture experience.
