Scale
Puff Pastry Rollups
- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional)
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Pinch of salt
- All-purpose flour for rolling
Instructions
- Prepare Oven and Surface: Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Lightly flour your work surface to prevent sticking.
- Roll Puff Pastry: Roll out the thawed puff pastry into a rectangle about ¼-inch thick on the floured surface.
- Make Garlic Butter Mixture: In a small bowl, combine melted butter, minced garlic, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, and a pinch of salt. Mix well.
- Spread Butter Mixture: Brush this garlic butter evenly over the surface of the rolled out puff pastry.
- Add Cheeses: Sprinkle shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese evenly on top of the buttered pastry.
- Roll the Pastry: Starting from one long edge, tightly roll the puff pastry into a log shape, encasing the cheeses inside.
- Cut into Slices: Use a sharp knife to slice the thick roll into 1-inch wide pieces to form individual rollups.
- Place on Baking Sheet: Arrange the rollups cut side up on the prepared parchment-lined baking sheet. Brush the tops with any remaining garlic butter mixture.
- Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 15–18 minutes or until the rollups are golden brown and puffed.
- Garnish and Serve: Remove from oven, garnish with chopped fresh parsley if desired, and serve warm.
Notes
- Substitute mozzarella cheese with a mix of cheddar and Monterey Jack for a sharper flavor.
- For a spicy kick, sprinkle crushed red pepper flakes over the garlic butter before rolling the pastry.
- Make sure to work quickly with the puff pastry to keep it cold, helping create flakier rollups.
- Serve rollups warm for best flavor and texture experience.
