Ingredients
Scale
Fries
- 2 pounds frozen French fries
Beef Mixture
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 medium yellow onion, diced
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
Cheese and Garnish
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 4 slices cheddar cheese (optional for extra gooeyness)
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (optional for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat and Bake Fries: Preheat your oven and bake the frozen French fries on a baking sheet according to package instructions until they are golden and crispy.
- Cook Beef and Onions: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and diced onion until the beef is browned and onions are softened. Drain excess grease thoroughly.
- Season the Beef: Stir in garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, ketchup, and yellow mustard. Let the mixture simmer for 2–3 minutes to allow the flavors to blend well.
- Assemble the Bake: Transfer the baked fries into a 9×13-inch baking dish and spread them evenly. Top with the seasoned beef and onion mixture.
- Add Cheese: Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top of the beef layer. Add cheddar cheese slices on top if you prefer it extra gooey.
- Bake to Melt Cheese: Bake the assembled dish at 375°F (190°C) for 10–15 minutes, or until the cheese is fully melted and bubbly. Optionally, broil for 1–2 minutes to achieve a golden, slightly crisp cheese topping.
- Garnish and Serve: Remove from the oven and garnish with chopped fresh parsley. Serve hot, optionally accompanied by burger toppings like pickles, tomatoes, or sauces of your choice.
Notes
- For best results, use thick-cut or steak fries to hold up better under the toppings.
- You can customize the seasoning to include your favorite burger spices or add hot sauce for a spicy kick.
- Broiling at the end is optional but adds a nice golden crust to the cheese topping.
- Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven to keep crispiness.
- Feel free to add chopped pickles or diced tomatoes on top after baking for extra burger flavor.
