Description

These Candy Fruit Skewers are a delightful treat that combines the natural sweetness of fresh fruit with a crunchy, sugary coating. Perfect for parties or as a fun snack, these colorful skewers are sure to be a hit with both kids and adults.

Ingredients

Scale

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup strawberries (hulled)
  • 1 cup green grapes
  • 1 cup pineapple chunks
  • 1 cup watermelon balls or cubes
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup light corn syrup
  • 810 wooden skewers
  • Nonstick spray or parchment paper (for drying)

Instructions

  1. Prep the Fruit: Wash and dry all fruit thoroughly—excess moisture will prevent the candy coating from sticking.
  2. Skewer the Fruit: Thread a mix of strawberries, grapes, pineapple, and watermelon onto each skewer, leaving space at the bottom for handling.
  3. Make the Candy Coating: In a small saucepan, combine the sugar, water, and corn syrup over medium heat. Stir until the sugar dissolves, then stop stirring and bring the mixture to a boil. Continue cooking until it reaches 300°F (hard crack stage) on a candy thermometer, about 10–12 minutes.
  4. Coat the Fruit: Remove from heat immediately. Carefully dip or spoon the hot candy coating over the fruit skewers, letting the excess drip off.
  5. Set and Serve: Place the coated skewers on parchment paper or a greased cooling rack to set and harden for about 10–15 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Use caution when working with hot sugar—it can burn quickly.
  • To add color or flavor, you can mix a drop of food coloring or flavored extract into the syrup before boiling.
  • Best served the same day for crunch and freshness.
