Ingredients
Scale
Chicken and Sauce
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 pound boneless skinless chicken breasts, thinly sliced
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/3 cup buffalo wing sauce
- 1 tablespoon butter
Vegetables
- 1/2 cup diced onion
- 1/2 cup diced green bell pepper
Bread and Cheese
- 4 hoagie rolls or sub buns
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese or provolone cheese
- 1/4 cup crumbled blue cheese (optional)
Optional Toppings
- Ranch or blue cheese dressing for drizzling (optional)
Instructions
- Sauté Vegetables: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the diced onions and green bell peppers and sauté for 3–4 minutes until they are softened. Push the vegetables to one side of the skillet.
- Cook Chicken: Add the thinly sliced chicken breasts to the empty side of the skillet. Season with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Cook the chicken for 6–8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until fully cooked through and no longer pink.
- Combine Sauce and Chicken: Stir in the buffalo wing sauce and butter, mixing everything thoroughly until the chicken and vegetables are evenly coated.
- Melt Cheese: Reduce the heat to low and sprinkle the shredded mozzarella or provolone cheese over the chicken mixture. Cover the skillet and let the cheese melt for 1–2 minutes.
- Prepare Rolls: Toast the hoagie rolls if desired to add crunch and warmth.
- Assemble Sandwiches: Fill each hoagie roll with the buffalo chicken and vegetable mixture. Sprinkle with crumbled blue cheese if using, and drizzle with ranch or blue cheese dressing as a finishing touch.
- Serve: Serve the sandwiches immediately while hot and enjoy!
Notes
- For extra spice, use a hotter buffalo sauce or add some hot sauce to taste.
- Substitute mozzarella with pepper jack cheese for a different flavor twist.
- To make it milder, reduce the amount of buffalo sauce or skip the blue cheese.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
