Cookie Bars
- 1 cup unsalted butter (room temperature)
- 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 tsp green food coloring
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
- Cream Butter and Sugar: In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar together until the mixture is light and fluffy, approximately 3 minutes.
- Add Eggs and Vanilla: Add the eggs one at a time to the creamed mixture, mixing well after each addition. Then stir in the vanilla extract for flavor.
- Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt thoroughly.
- Mix Dry with Wet Ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring just until combined to avoid overmixing.
- Add Green Food Coloring: Stir in the green food coloring until the dough reaches your desired green shade, perfect for a festive look.
- Transfer to Pan and Bake: Spread the cookie dough evenly in the prepared baking pan. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the edges turn golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Cool and Serve: Let the cookie bars cool completely in the pan on a wire rack before slicing into squares and serving.
Notes
- Make sure butter is at room temperature for easier creaming and better texture.
- You can adjust the amount of green food coloring according to your preferred shade.
- For cleaner slices, use a sharp knife when cutting the cooled bars.
- Store leftover bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
- Optional: add sprinkles on top before baking for extra decoration.
