Ingredients
Scale
Berries:
- 1 pound strawberries (hulled and sliced)
- 1 cup blueberries
- 1 cup raspberries
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
Cream:
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 8 ounces mascarpone cheese (softened)
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Other:
- 1 package (7 ounces) ladyfingers or sponge cake (cut into pieces)
- 1/4 cup orange juice or berry liqueur (optional)
- fresh mint and extra berries for garnish
Instructions
- Berries: In a bowl, toss the sliced strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries with the sugar and lemon juice. Let sit for 10–15 minutes to release their juices.
- Cream: In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream to soft peaks. In another bowl, beat the mascarpone cheese with powdered sugar and vanilla until smooth. Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until fully combined.
- Assemble: Layer half of the ladyfingers or cake pieces into the bottom of a trifle dish. Drizzle with orange juice or berry liqueur. Spoon half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers, then top with half of the berry mixture. Repeat the layers. Chill for at least 2–3 hours before serving. Garnish with mint and extra berries.
Notes
- For an alcohol-free version, use orange juice or skip the soaking step entirely.
- You can substitute the mascarpone with a blend of cream cheese and sour cream for a more accessible alternative.
