Ingredients
Scale
Pizza Dough
- 1 pound pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
- Cornmeal or flour (for dusting)
Toppings
- 1/2 cup BBQ sauce (plus extra for drizzling)
- 1 cup cooked chicken breast (shredded or chopped)
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded smoked gouda or cheddar cheese
- 1/4 red onion (thinly sliced)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) and place a pizza stone or baking sheet inside to heat thoroughly, ensuring a crisp bottom crust.
- Prepare Dough: Roll out the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface to your preferred thickness. If using a pizza stone, dust a pizza peel or parchment paper with cornmeal to prevent sticking.
- Assemble Pizza: Lightly brush the dough with olive oil, then evenly spread 1/2 cup BBQ sauce over the surface. Top with shredded chicken, mozzarella, smoked gouda or cheddar cheese, and thinly sliced red onion.
- Bake: Carefully transfer the assembled pizza to the preheated stone or baking sheet. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes until the crust turns golden, and the cheese is bubbly and slightly browned.
- Finish and Serve: Remove pizza from the oven and let it rest for 2 minutes. Drizzle additional BBQ sauce on top if desired, then sprinkle with freshly chopped cilantro. Slice and serve warm.
Notes
- Rotisserie chicken is a convenient and flavorful shortcut for this recipe.
- For a spicier pizza, add sliced jalapeños or a pinch of red pepper flakes.
- You can substitute naan or flatbread to make individual pizzas.
