Description

These Baked Lemon Garlic Chicken Wings are a flavorful and healthy twist on classic wings. Marinated in a zesty lemon and garlic mixture, then baked to crispy perfection, they make an excellent appetizer or main dish with a Mediterranean flair. Perfect for game days, parties, or a delicious family meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken Wings

  • 2 pounds chicken wings, split at joints and tips removed

Marinade

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon lemon zest
  • 3 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano
  • ¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)

Garnish

  • Chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with foil and place a wire rack on top to allow air circulation and even cooking of the wings.
  2. Prepare Wings: Pat the chicken wings dry thoroughly with paper towels to remove any moisture which helps achieve crispy skin.
  3. Make Marinade: In a small bowl, whisk together olive oil, lemon zest, lemon juice, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, dried oregano, and crushed red pepper flakes if using.
  4. Coat Wings: Place the dry wings in a large bowl. Pour the marinade over them and toss well until all wings are evenly coated with the lemon garlic mixture.
  5. Arrange on Rack: Arrange the wings in a single layer on the prepared wire rack over the foil-lined baking sheet. This setup ensures the fat drips away and wings crisp up.
  6. Bake Wings: Bake in the preheated oven for 40 to 45 minutes, flipping the wings halfway through the cooking time to promote even browning and crispiness.
  7. Optional Broil: For extra crispiness, broil the wings for an additional 2–3 minutes at the end of baking, watching closely to avoid burning.
  8. Rest and Garnish: Remove the wings from the oven and let them rest for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh chopped parsley before serving.

Notes

  • For an even crispier texture, broil the wings for 2–3 minutes after baking while keeping an eye on them to prevent burning.
  • Serve with Greek yogurt dip or tzatziki for a refreshing complement and added flavor.
  • Make sure to pat wings dry before marinating to help achieve maximum crispiness.
  • Adjust crushed red pepper flakes quantity or omit for less heat and to suit your taste preferences.
