Ingredients
Scale
Chicken Wings
- 2 pounds chicken wings, split at joints and tips removed
Marinade
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon lemon zest
- 3 tablespoons lemon juice
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon dried oregano
- ¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
Garnish
- Chopped fresh parsley
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with foil and place a wire rack on top to allow air circulation and even cooking of the wings.
- Prepare Wings: Pat the chicken wings dry thoroughly with paper towels to remove any moisture which helps achieve crispy skin.
- Make Marinade: In a small bowl, whisk together olive oil, lemon zest, lemon juice, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, dried oregano, and crushed red pepper flakes if using.
- Coat Wings: Place the dry wings in a large bowl. Pour the marinade over them and toss well until all wings are evenly coated with the lemon garlic mixture.
- Arrange on Rack: Arrange the wings in a single layer on the prepared wire rack over the foil-lined baking sheet. This setup ensures the fat drips away and wings crisp up.
- Bake Wings: Bake in the preheated oven for 40 to 45 minutes, flipping the wings halfway through the cooking time to promote even browning and crispiness.
- Optional Broil: For extra crispiness, broil the wings for an additional 2–3 minutes at the end of baking, watching closely to avoid burning.
- Rest and Garnish: Remove the wings from the oven and let them rest for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh chopped parsley before serving.
Notes
- For an even crispier texture, broil the wings for 2–3 minutes after baking while keeping an eye on them to prevent burning.
- Serve with Greek yogurt dip or tzatziki for a refreshing complement and added flavor.
- Make sure to pat wings dry before marinating to help achieve maximum crispiness.
- Adjust crushed red pepper flakes quantity or omit for less heat and to suit your taste preferences.
